Nepal has been facing energy crisis since decades. Across the country, over 12 million people do not have access to electricity. The 2025 agenda of the company includes ambitious goals to provide over 120 MW of clean hydro energy in Nepal. Hydropower, Nepal’s largest source of renewable electricity, has an increasingly important role to play as part of a sustainable and economic energy portfolio, adapting to climate change and at the same time supporting efforts towards universal access to electricity and clean water. Development of hydropower plants remains challenging on many fronts in Nepal. While the way forward for hydropower must be economically and technically robust, its footprint must be one that respects the environment and makes people’s lives better. Our vision is a nation where abundant water energy is utilized to deliver renewable energy to all in a sustainable way.
